Cerne Abbas is a small friendly village lying in the valley of the River Cerne, midway between Sherborne and Dorchester.  It is a village of picturesque streets, 15th century houses and abbey ruins.

Cerne Abbas is famed for the Cerne Giant - a striking, mysterious, 180-foot high figure cut into the chalk downs overlooking the village. The origins remain a mystery, but he is now a Scheduled Ancient Monument in the care of the National Trust
